A singer, guitarist, composer, as well as a five time Best Actor award winner, Oyloe’s sound is a blend of traditional folk and contemporary indie Americana that is lyrical and reflective. “Everything about Peter is soulful and singular,” says Tina Salmone, Executive Director of the Marion Palace Theater in Marion, OH. “If Johnny Depp and Cat Stevens had a son and James Taylor was his babysitter, THAT would be Peter Oyloe.” His performances seamlessly combine his own eclectic, heartfelt, multi-textured original songs with interpretations from the folk and American roots music canon that demonstrate a deep knowledge of and respect for its legacy. “The end result,” says Ken Mowery of Indie-Music.com, “is music that listeners will find broadly relevant and deeply stirring.”

  1. Peter Oyloe beautifully pours his soul into his music. Every song is an intimate journey, which is a rare discovery given the quality of today’s song releases. The quiet yet powerful enthusiasm he has for telling each story on the album is a breath of fresh air. His personal touch is sure to captivate the heart of any listener, transporting them into the quiet, vulnerable mind that is Peter Oyloe.

One of the greatest things about this album (And Oyloe’s music in general) is that he beautifully mixes skillful instrumentals and eloquent, heartfelt lyrics. This shows as an unmatched strength in his musicianship and a deep compassion for his writing.

As a folk lover, it is an absolute honor to grace my ears with music of such high quality. Peter’s music is right up there with that of Crosby Stills and Nash, Joan Baez, and many other artists who were the creators of modern folk and the folk movement of the 1960’s. It’s a a beautiful mixture of the past and modern sincerity.

Oyloe’s song Fire beautifully tells the story of someone whom he loves but cannot reach. This is a song that is sure to bring a tear to a sensitive eye. It is not only the expressive lyrics that captivates the listener, but the feeling Oyloe portrays so effortlessly when he sings. you can hear HIM in the music. This is not just words and notes on paper. He delivers each line as though he is taking you on a journey into his deepest thoughts and broken past. You won’t find many other story tellers in current music. We should all lead by his example.

This is some of Oyloe’s best work yet. The sound quality and musicianship is amazing. If you take a listen to his first album “Words and Music”, the growth in his character and emotional availability is incredibly abundant. He has developed significantly as a writer and a poet and a creator, his words taking on profound new meaning. Every musician should learn from Oyloe’s dedication to every single note he sings. There is not a moment void of emotion.

“When the Wide World Roars” is an album that you can listen to over and over again and always discover a new personal moment within each masterful song. This album is one of my must haves. Any folk musician, whether they be up and coming or established, should know and own Peter Oyloe’s music.
